Cité Universitaire is the complete transformation of an apartment in a rather ordinary 1980s building into a more open and personal living space.

The intervention reorganizes the plan to introduce a loft-like continuity between the main rooms. The kitchen opens onto the living area through a steel-framed threshold that allows the spaces to communicate while preserving their distinct identities.

Throughout the apartment, sliding panels, built-in bookcases and mirrored surfaces create subtle articulations between study, bedroom and dressing areas. These elements structure the circulation while maintaining a sense of fluid continuity.

Custom shelving and carefully integrated niches provide a framework for the owner’s collections — African art, musical instruments, books and personal objects — allowing fragments of a life to inhabit the architecture.

The result is a calm and coherent interior where everyday life, memory and space find a new balance.

Rather than imposing a style, the project organizes space so that life itself becomes the interior’s main narrative.
